Nothing’s more exciting than meeting the people whose work you admire in person, but for many ISSST-goers, especially our overseas friends, it can be hard to justify the trouble and expense of long-distance travel to attend a conference. That’s why we’re making ISSST 2016’s online presence bigger and better than ever.
Every parallel session, keynote address, and plenary speech at ISSST 2016 will be recorded by our tech team and livestreamed via the ISSST YouTube channel. Powerpoint slides, videos, and other audio-visual material will be streamed alongside live video of the presenter, so that online viewers can get the full experience, and the whole thing is archived on the YouTube channel. While the keynote addresses will be released to the general public, the full archive including the parallel sessions will be reserved for paying attendees.
Our goal is to add value for everyone. In-person attendees can check the archive to review an important point from a talk after the fact or catch a parallel session that they missed. Online attendees get the meat and potatoes value of attending the conference for a fraction of the expense of long-distance travel. And presenters get even more ways to show off their work, since the high-quality archival video of their talks will be made available to them after the conference. For those who opt in (for an additional fee), our tech team can use post-production magic to turn them into dynamic online presentations like this:
…but if you’ve got your own video editing wizard you prefer to use or just think the livestream archive is good enough, that footage is yours to do with as you will.
We’ve also got solutions for those who want to present their research remotely and reach the ISSST audience right from their home institution. All you need is your computer, a camera, and a microphone. We’ll send instructions and test your system with ours ahead of time to ensure a high quality presentation.
