The National Renewable Energy Laboratory is looking to recruit a talented post-doc to support what will be a wide-ranging, innovative and fun project quantifying the environmental performance of the US electrical grid, retrospectively and prospectively. (The huge, framework project is the Department of Energy’s Grid Modernization Lab Consortium ($100M+/yr.). Dr. Garvin Heath is leading a topic within the Institutional Support team for metrics characterizing the sustainability (or “clean”) of the grid, as seen on slide 37 of this deck: http://www.nrel.gov/esi/pdfs/agct_day2_lynn.pdf.)
The work will be fundamentally interdisciplinary. Attractions of this position include collaborating with researchers across NREL’s renowned Strategic Energy Analysis Center as well as researchers at other DOE National Labs, plus opening doors to living in the great Front Range of Colorado!
Candidates need to be able to start during the winter. Students graduating in the Spring, so long as they could start before graduation, can be considered.
